About our project
New Fortress Energy Louisiana FLNG, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of New Fortress Energy, is proposing to build an offshore facility to liquefy natural gas for markets worldwide.
The facility will include FLNG1 and FLNG2, each consisting of three connected platforms, as well as a Compression Rig and a floating storage unit (FSU). Once operational, the facility will produce 2.8 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year.
Benefits
Our project – and LNG in general – comes with a range of benefits for the environment, the economy, and the communities where we operate.
Permitting process
We will coordinate with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Maritime Administration and other jurisdictions and agencies to obtain permits for the facility.
Schedule
We started developing our project in 2021 and expect to start exporting from the facility in 2023. You’ll have several opportunities to learn more about the project between now and then.
Outreach
Learn how we are working with communities, jurisdictions and agencies to inform them about our project, and join us for a virtual town hall.
About New Fortress Energy
We want to light the world. Billions of people around the planet lack access to affordable power. Electricity should not be a luxury good.
Wes Edens founded New Fortress Energy in 2014 with the belief that access to affordable, reliable, cleaner energy is not a privilege, but a human right. Universal access to energy can impact major world issues, from education to poverty reduction to gender equality. Creating that access – in an environmentally responsible way – is our fundamental mission.
